I've been using high amperage boat switches for 13 years . They allow full charging voltage  which you can direct to either or both batteries. They also use large gauge battery cables and allow you to start your engine with either or bott batteries. The off position also makes it easy to work on your car where shorting potential exists, for storage or as a theft deterrent.   Robert 1982 Westfalia

Thanks for that info, Mark. I see that the 1314 is unidirectional vs the 1315 is bi-directional. Looks like I have the wrong separator for my setup. A search on the Samba brought up info on the subject and the 1314 was suggested when used with solar and/or an AC charger. Too bad that info was not there when I bought the 1315! Time for a work-around.
