I always get nervous when an engine changes it behavior after a coolant change. Was the engine operated without the system fully functional? Did you flush a hot engine with cold water? Pay attention for coolant loss, white smoke etc. Cracked head or damaged gasket.

Could just be coincidental also.

Dennis

Hello again,

Over the weekend I flushed the coolant in my 1982 Diesel Westfalia and refilled the system with new antifreeze. I also changed the oil. Prior to these changes the van would turn over for a second or two before starting. Now it turns over for five seconds or more before it finally starts. I follow the usual pre-glow/choke procedure that always worked fine before when starting. Anyone have a clue what's up? How to get things back to the way they used to be?

Thanks, Ryan
