I have a subarood westy that I've been full-timing in for, well, a very long time.
I grafted an AW hi-top on it years ago, and just last week I happened to park side-by-side with a sprinter. In physical size we were almost identical. His was maybe 4" taller, and his slopping nose stuck out about 4"-6" longer than mine. That said, I know he can park and navigate pretty much anywhere I can.
Even though I'm a vanagon freak, if I could afford the sprinter I would take it over the pop-top westy.
Having the extra space of the hi-top makes it all possible, in my very H.O., and the pop-top doesn't play well with the "stealth" aspect.
Of course, if my plans could include pulling an AW hi-top over to the westy, everything changes.

Sorry for the cross post. If you have experience with Sprinters, Westfalias
or living full time in an auto RSVP.
Stats: I live in the PacNW of the u.S.of Amerika. Have two children with me
every other weekend. I plan to stealth in my neighborhood in which I've
lived for the past 4 years.
Most places I habit daily/weekly are in a 3~5mi radius (mailbox, storage,
24hr Fitness, work, library, et cetera). I work 8 to 5 and have a very
flexible
schedule both hourly and weekly. I travel 10~20mi for entertainment 1 or 2x
weekly and 85mi 1 way to fetch the children every other weekend.
I've narrowed my auto search to two units: '90 SubieVanagon w/poptop or
an
'06 Sprinter (158" wheel base). I'm a little torn because I love
Vanagons
but I
know the Sprinter will be much more roomy and I'll be able to build to
suit.
Of course the Sprinter costs 3x as much as the VW. The Subie is in very good
condition and I'll likely not find another like it for awhile but the
Sprinter is in mint condition, insulated and paneled. At this time I'm
leaning to the High Top, LWB, Sprinter, given how much more easily it will
be to change clothes and use the toilet and the fact that I won't need/have
to pay for storage with it.
Please give your frank thoughts on this matter.
