Subject: Rear Brake Shoe Design Questions

John:

Dennis e-mailed me last night and suggested 3 mm spacers for new shoes, unless you're using OEM (extra thick). You also answered one of my questions without realizing it. I was uncertain as to what kind of washer to use, but the answer to that question is a bearing washer, who's outside diameter is apparently 16 mm, with the inside diameter of 14 mm. I wanted to order my washers ahead of time, because that certainly is not a stock item where I live. How Scott (tubrovan's) got his brake shoes to wear evenly is beyond me. Based on the design I think it impossible. Mine very clearly show about one third of the shoe being used. . My adjusters are working perfectly, and drums are not warped. I am still going to replace the works myself within a few weeks, including slave cylinders.

<<So spacers or stock? I'm replacing rear shoes/springs this weekend.>>

Troy
