As far as I can tell, the early Vanagon Diesel radiator has the same core as
the later water cooled gas Vanagons. Only the top and bottom tanks are
different, visually. It seems to me that actually attempting to swap a gas
core with diesel tanks is a good experiment to see if this is the reasonable
solution.
