think I could just crazy glue it to the cable? or do I need a new cable?

thanks Greg S. 87' Wolfsburg Vanagon

PS - took it for my first trip today. Man that's a vague shifting gearbox. Also just quit on me once (then started up and no problems) -- vanagon syndrome? But what a view. *
