I have the same set up as Frank and they are wonderful lights even with the 55/60 Watts. I would highly recommend protecting that investment with the plastic covers. I purposely have set them pointing a little lower so that I do not blind the oncoming traffic for the low beams but the high beams really brighten up a long way ahead. I also have the ProjectTzwo fog lights and that is a sweet set up. ... Oh yeah I did put lots of relays and beefed up the wiring too. No melting no distortion and absolutely the best lighting for a Vanagon. I can see and be seen on the darkest of nights.
