One time in my old 36hp Splittie I was highballing down the grade between Las Vegas and Baker, California (Home of the tallest thermometer in the US..or something like that..) I don't think I'd ever taken that bus so fast...about 80, I recall. All of a sudden...."BANG!...whaap whaap whaap whaap....." I think "Oh crap, there goes the motor, finally" but I see no oil smoke and the motor is still running ok...I go about 5 miles looking for a side road, and pull off..kneel down and see....a spark plug, hanging down on it's wire..dangling almost on the pavement...Screw it back in and continue on..no harm done...
