Actually I've often wondered why we/they don't just move the membership list (the addresses and such) to new software on one of Jim's servers, have Coyote change the redirects/addresses and leave gerry to serve in a 'reduced' function as an archive server of the 'classic/first gen' list. It'd probably run those searches better if it wasn't processing the mail at the same time, and we'd have a 'modern' system for our pre-historic email list. : ) Or am I talking through my hat?

Cya, Robert

a word or two in your shell-like ears ... ;)

would it not be better to ... get a newer faster bigger better super-whoopee honking machine and send it to the New Home of the Vanagon List, and set it up with the software (sent over the internet, or by dvd or whatever) and get it running, then simply shut down the old clunker and let tom c. do with it as he will??

sort of parallel operations, as it were? we used to do this all the time in The Computer World when our bosses ignored us and bought new hardware ...always made for long days and nights and a spike in the local coffee sales. ;)
