We made the trip in back in '02, also in an old air cooled westy, before I crossed over to the Vanagon side. The road from Dawson City to Inuvik was a little ratty, but beautiful nonetheless. If you stay around 40mph you're less likely to get a flat tire.....we didn't get any. When we arrived in Inuvik we saw a Cadillac that drove the road with 4 flat tires. Now has anyone done the drive in a VW from Inuvik to Tuktoyaktuk? (you can only drive in winter, on the ice road ICE ROAD TRUCKERS of the History Channel use....you would freeze to death in an air cooled van) http://www.pauldottrip.com/dempster_inuvik/index.htm http://www.pauldottrip.com/index_northamerica.html |
