There were 2 versions of the diesel mounting parts sold in North America, from 82 and 83 diesel Vanagons. The more common are the 82. These mount the engine forward about 1 1/2" from where the 85 tranny expects so watch out for that. If you are lucky enough to have the 83 type, no problem with the tranny position.

There are lots of gotchas potentially ahead, like the oil pan angle, oil dipstick reading, etc. All have been overcome many times so you will work through them too, if any come up.

Hopefully you got all the parts critical to the conversion from the diesel setup. How about a full list of what you got?
