It's "normal" for the fridge to blow out during driving. In all three of the Vanagon Westies I've owned, I've had that experience.

Sure, it doesn't blow out EVERY time, but if the wind is right...er, wrong it will blow out.

Might I suggest running it on 12VDC while driving?

And, I'm sure someone will chime in with the potential danger of having a running fridge (on propane) at a gas station.
