DEAD RIGHT ! If I removed the engine each time I replaced an exhaust system on one of those rusty, corroded waterboxer engines then there would be a much larger pile of money in my bank and a whole lot less in the pockets of my customers ! They would never put up with such shenanigans. How many of you who are purporting this idea are ready to pay shop time for it ? ONLY in very rare circumstances do I EVER pull and engine to replace an exhaust system. I have made up special drill bits for use with a small air powered right angle drill to drill out the rear studs/bolts if need be. Removing the oil filter may be the only other advantage.
