They are known to fail after all these years, leading to severe damage to both tranny and cooling system. Some of the vendors recommend replacement before that happens. I want to know what my options are for extra cooling of my auto trans (1984 vanagon full Westy). I think there is some type of tranny cooler on there now a factory one that hooks up to the engine coolant. I tow a utility trailer with my quads and the trailers weight is around 1000 pounds loaded. I have not had any problems as of yet and it goes up hill with no problems, I love it...... Is my factory cooler good enough? Thank you
