I also used the peel and seal and didn't have any issues. It comes in 6" or so wide rolls and I just rolled them out somewhat horizontally and worked my way up, overlapping slightly (1/4" or less) as I went. It made a huge difference in my '85 westy by doing the doors, slider and back hatch. They close with a thud instead of a ping now. It sounds a bit more like the Carat (my dad has one) doors. That was 2 years ago and it seems to be holding fine and I haven't ever smelled it either. i don't remember the cost, but I know it was significantly less than "real" sound deadeners.
