Ed, this could be related to your Temp II sensor. This tells the computer when the van is cold and enriches the mixture for cold start. These sensors are less than $20 so most people replace them if they haven't been replaced already. It is located in the side of the thermostat housing on the left side of the engine bay toward the front of the van. It is blue in color and has a blue plug going into it.
