Midas carries a lifetime warranty muffler for the vanagon-cost moi about $125 installed a number of years ago after the VW dealer recommended them over their own which was $290 IIRC. I compared the OE muffler to the Midas before I let them install it, & it appeared identical, was just as heavy as the VW ones, etc. & has worked well over the last 5-6 years other than the muffler strap rusting out & I replaced that w/ a Terry K heavy duty strap, bolts came falling off, & Midas replaced, etc. YMMV, Mr. BZ
