Guys,

I may have the opportunity to pick up a tranny locally, that's out of an older air-cooled vanagon.  Although I'd rather put in a rebuilt unit, my funds are tight as they are with most people right now, so I may have to settle for the "used" unit.  The guy is asking $350, which is more than what people on thesamba.com are asking, but there isn't anybody else local to me that I've come in contact with yet.  I'd almost rather get a whole rough vanagon and part it out to recuperate some of the expense, but those don't seem to be around right now either.

Really, I'm just wanting to check to see if there is somebody within a reasonable driving distance of Nashville, TN that may have a tranny for a cheaper price or maybe a whole vanagon that can be parted out.  There are three at the Nashville Pullapart, but I seem to remember they were all stripped of the engine and transaxles.

I'm sure my Westy is a little lonely as it's parked waiting at my parents to get a transplant.  This is the first time since purchasing it in 2000 that I've had to leave it behind, as it's always got me where I needed to go.  It's a little sad not having it in the driveway.
