I agree. This is most of the reason why I took the shots. When I put a few notes along with pics, I'll link it from Vanagon maintenance link on my site.

Back off e-brake adjustment, so it's slack, before adjusting rears. Reset e-brake adjustment when rears adjusted correctly.

I find it tough to gauge exactly what "drag" is when adjusting rears. Especially if wheels not mounted. It may be that what you consider/feel as sufficient drag, is not enough. If that makes sense.

Crank the adjustment so drums don't turn. Pump pedal. Back off adjustment little by little.
