Bob,

I might add to that - unless you really know a mechanic that has been into the manual tranny's and has the right tools - stay away!

The manual tranny requires special jigs for assembly and adjustment and it ain't every bear in the woods that has those special jigs..

There is a guy in my area - Leeds, AL - that can do the job, and he also rebuilt my engine, did a fine job too, but if you have the time - AA Transaxle would be the way to go. Daryl pays special attention to critical details.
