Okay I was just out under the van, I can't find the code but did find a big 2.0 and Mexico. My engine is mounted at 10 degrees. Is it possible that it is hidden by the rubber at the mounting point? Looking at the invoice for the conversion there is "S/N: VSGTI", is this possibly the code?
BTW: the mechanic who did the conversion was great. I had tons of confidence in him. Unfortunately, he moved out west.
RE: an earlier suggestions I have no converter.
Ciao Dave

IMO, a good sign in terms of actual engine conversion. (person who did
the conversion knew to wire that in)

Code should be on engine block. Driver side. (lower side of block if
mounted at diesel vanagon angle 50*)

After driving it for 100 km on the highway, I am positive I can hear the fuel pump so may be that needs changing, not sure about the filter.
This could account for the problems. Blocked fuel flow and/or failing
pump. (or damage from water? Anyone?)
Pump noise could also be due to cavitation.
Best of luck!
Neil.
