Right up the road (hiway 89) is Oak Creek Canyon--a beautiful oasis of green surrounded by red rock canyons.  Perfect Vanagon camping....too bad it'll be back home...but check it out for future reference; crowded on weekends (people escaping Phoenix) but fine during the week.  On your way there, check out Slide Rock State Park:  water cascading over polished rock, you can swim/play on Nature's Slip 'n' Slide.  Water will be cold, but the air temps will make up for it.   Also, about 20 miles eastward is Montezuma's Castle:  pretty cool Indian cliff dwellings you can climb around in.  Southward about an hour is Jerome:  ghost town, good exploring there, too.

There are a couple lakes north of Montezuma's Castle a few miles; not sure about fishing and all, but had a nice picnic rest stop there once.  Good to walk around the lakes, take a dip, cool off.

Sedona itself is pleasant enough, especially this time of year, but bring a fat wallet!

Last chance for me to come up with stuff to do while family is in Sedona, AZ.  Seems there are ALOT of psychics and relaxation therapists there, but not much else.  Any tips would be appreciated.  Outdoors fishing, hiking, biking(have to rent one) and such.  Please save me from a 'Spa' vacation with my wife!
