Subject: Traffic Caution I-5 Northbound at Elk Grove, CA and Happy Frydaye
Content-Type: text/plain; charset=ISO-8859-1

Curious if a listmember in a white Westfalia, bicycles on the back and fully packed, was traveling on I-5 northbound at Hood Franklin Road just outside of Elk Grove this morning at about 7:50am - just a piece of advice, but please try not to drive your fully loaded Westfalia from the side of the road back onto the freeway at 15mph or so in front of a couple of big rigs, causing them to swerve all over the freeway and my husband to try to stop a fully loaded 53 foot trailer on a dime, so as to avoid the big rigs in front of him and the Westfalia.

My husband opined that perhaps the Westfalia driver was tired, maybe had been driving all night, whatever.

In any event, try using rear view mirrors and not driving in front of big rigs or any other vehicles for that matter until you've acquired a little more speed.

And have a good Friday and drive safe, everyone, and try to give the big rig drivers a little more room. They really can't stop those things on a dime - not even close. Sounds like this person would have caused the same problem had he/she drove in front of cars, however.
