E85 will offer a substantial drop in economy, as it takes more fuel to power the engine (The fuel contains less power). I only ran 2 tanks of E85. The first tank, was still half full of gasoline when I filled it with E85. That tank yielded 18.5 mpg. Then, once that tank was empty, I filled up with E85 and got about 120 miles into the tank when my MIL light came on. I pulled aside and pulled out my handy code reader/reprogrammer and checked my code. The code that had been thrown was "Engine too lean" or something along those lines, so i phoned up BOSTIG who were ready to help, and since I wasn't running the E85 tune on the engine but rather still the Gasoline Tune hoping it could richen ittself accordingly, and had been REALLY romping on it (77mph because I was in Nebraska, and wanted to be out of Nebraska!), the proposal to fill with gasoline and continue on my way untill I could download the E85 tune from them worked fantastically. With that said, I got about 17.5 mpg on that tank of strait E85. I haven't tried since, but once I get the E85 tune which optimizes fuel enrichment, I should be running sweet on corn! I am currently running happily as can be on cheap 85 octane in the mountains, and still getting great gas mileage. Still better than my old WBX!
