Iowa would also have the Herbert Hoover presidential museum in West
Branch, several Frank Lloyd Wright designed structures around the
state, and don't forget the covered bridges made semi-famous in the
Clint Eastwood movie with Meryl Streep(?), The Bridges of Madison
County. LOcated in the SW part of the state. the coolest
architecture(outside of the FLW stuff mentined earlier in this poat)
in the state(and a great place to see a concert or play) is in Ames
on the ISU campus. It's called the C Y Stephens auditorium and the
acoustics inside there are awesome.
Baseball fans can't pass up the site just outside Dyersville on
Hwy 20. in NE Iowa where the legendary "Field of Dreams" movie was
shot. It's still a tourist attraction even after all these
years. There's also some cool Indian ruins at a State park between
Decorah and the Mississippi river. I think it's called Effigy Mounds
state park. Only been there once. There's the "little brown church"
in Nashua, John Wayne's birthplace, Andy Williams'
birthplace,......well, yeah, I'm kinda scrapin' the bottom of the
barrel now....
