The fittings need to be checked with soapy water after a "snug" tightening and maybe tightened a bit more after soaping it down and seeing little bubbles Daryl of AA Transaxle>>

Neither flare fittings nor compression fittings require tape. Only threaded joint connections require tape or paste. I'm not sure where this information comes from, but I believe it to be incorrect. If someone can show me proof to the contrary, I will gladly eat crow on this one, but I'd like to see gas connections be safe.
