I did this and it is harder than it seems. It gets very hard if the line is installed in a tight place. I'd say flares are "easy" only on a pipe that gets put in place later. I see on my daughter's popup tent trailer that all the propane lines can be removed--all the holes are big enough for the flare nut.

If I were doing it over--connecting two propane tanks and a Carver--on my Westy, I'd find an RV shop that would do it. They have done the practicing.

Another option, and one that an RV shop might want to do today, is use flexible lines. I think more and more RVs are going that way.
