So Harrington's in Halifax is NOT the place to take a Vanagon - they only fix Volkswagons but wont touch a van. And they could only recommend the VW dealer down the road for repair. Fortunately the mechanic there who had been recommended to us pointed me down the road to Settle Auto Repair. I still dont have the van back (they went on Holidays for a few days) but I talked to Mike Settle there and he seems like a keen Vanagon guy. I understand that he replaced the bell housing so it sounds to me like something that the throwout arm connected to broke. I get more details when they return Tuesday. So we get to spend a nice weekend and a bit in Halifax. I have seen 5 vans here already this morning. Thats always fun.

We are leaving Halifax on Tuesday (if the Van gods are pleased) and I was wondering if anyone could suggest a place to park/stay overnight on the way back to Ottawa. I figure to make it perhaps to Edmonston (cursed city) or possibly Rivier-du-Loup. I dont mind just parking on a side street in some town but since I'm green at boondocking I feel better with permission.

Thank you list, Greg S. Ottawa ON 87' Wolfsburg
