After several unsuccessful attempts to repair the odometer gear on my 84 GL,
I eventually had North Hollywood Speedometer & Clock fix the darn thing.
And no, they don't sell the improved gear by itself :(

I've been going to these guys since the late 60s.  They restored the
original speedo on my 1950 Split Window Beetle in 1969 and I've had them
do excellent work on instruments for my VWs since then.

I love to tinker on stuff like this, but there are times when stuff like
this gets beyond my abilities.
