So, after the latest Syncro de Mayo Este, it was time for me to take a bunch of my old parts and create a replacement driver side rear half shaft to replace the one I broke at SdME. I had the scrap remains of 3 or 4 sitting in or around my parts cleaner waiting for this day.

I've grenaded one CV cage, and snapped two EMPI shafts with the SVX engine in my Syncro Westy. Hence the collection of spare parts.

The spare parts are interesting. While I haven't taken a full inventory of the parts, I can say that I have at least 2 EMPI CVs, a Lobro CV, and one OEM VW CV.

Now for the most interesting part. The first 6 good balls I removed and decided to use won't fit in the grooves on the EMPI CVs!!! They fit in the grooves on the OEM and Lobro CVs.

This really now raises a question in my mind about EMPI half shafts. I don't think they are up to the task in a Syncro Westy with a transplant engine.
