Score one for the square guys! :o)

You may recall (but probably not) that I went into Tire Works and had the tires on Blackbeard replaced back at the end of last year. After calling to make sure that they had REINFORCED tires in stock (and being told that they did), I noticed while driving home that the ride was a but "mushier" than I remembered. Sure enough. SINGLE-PLY, passenger-rated Firestone FR-380 tires.

Finally, after over 5 months of calling, griping, begging and pleading, I spoke with the right person on Friday. I was just informed that my new Nexen SV820 replacement tires will be in day after tomorrow. 8-Ply goodness, although they're 185s and I've been driving on 205s for the past few years.

It will be interesting to feel the difference in the ride - and good to feel secure that my tires aren't going to suddenly render my Vanagon a speeding death trap!

Drew, Las Vegas '90 GL "Blackbeard"
