Impressive fire - and a strong reminder of the reason ot inspect and change those fuel lines.

Back in the day - when I was an active aircraft mechanic and pilot - gasoline engine fuels had color added to them for identification. This may now have changed - I've been away from it for a number of years- but 80/87 octane fuel was/is red, and 100/130 octane was/is green, and there was way, way back there a fuel that was blue, but that one I never really saw in service. With these color codes you were supposed to be able of keeping better track of the proper fuel for a particular engine and fuel system. You could always step up a grade, but never down - you would get detonation. But another biggy about those fuel colors - they would cause a stain at any point there was a leak or weep, and you could find it easily and fix it. I wish automotive fuels were so colored - at least where vanagons are concerned.
