Ed that sounds like a fair amount to me. I would pay the $1000 to keep the old van and you can either sell it to someone who may want to restore it or use it for parts (probably the second) if you have a place to store it. You should be able to pick up a replacement on the samba for around $4000-5000 that might need some body work or engine work and then just put the rest of the money toward that. I love the 74 cents! Where did they get that from I wonder? :-)
