The scrap steel is worth more than the parts. Also, junk yards, or Salvage yards as they are called in this age of fanciful labels (ie. Sanitary Landfill=Dump) are often under financial pressure paying taxes as potential "Real Estate"..The land is valued at it's potential for some brokers and banks to make a killing off...

They can't easily keep vehicles in unlimited numbers. Don Hanson
