My frineds from Moab and their Toyota Land Cruiser in quick sand in Lavender Canyon (Canyonlands) a couple months ago. Flash flood had just come through. http://www.flickr.com/photos/syncronaut/3663064656/

Bob While in Bryce and taking a break at a big gas station/repair shop, I saw a Rover well-equipped with aluminum "tracks" slung along the drive side to deal with just this kind of situation. From the looks of it, they took it into those environments often.
