thanks all for the comments....it's just good to have reassurance on these things.. good to know I'm not out to lunch.

Car was in the shop today & they did a leak down test. 10% was the number with the conclusion that the rings and valves are sealing well. That leaves valve guides. They've added product to the oil (?) to see if that helps the seals on the valve guides. I'm to run it for a couple of tanks of gas see if the oil consumption drops to four stroke rather than two stroke levels.......I'll post again in when there's some more info......
