Well, it seems that we're back. (Thank you Tom.)

Not unlike our beloved vans, the vanagon@gerry list occasionally leaves us dead on the side of the Internet highway. When that happens, you first start not receiving list posts followed shortly by an overwhelming urge to send a note to vanagon@gerry asking if the list is down. The next step seems to be asking all your friends and acquaintances, "Is the list down?" Then apparently a final collapse into an unreasonable fear that without the vanagon list posts, your engine will suffer terminal lifter clatter, your tires will all toss belts and your odometer will no longer function.

Folks! There IS a solution!!!!!

Way back when Gerry Skerbitz was asked to kindly remove his little mailing list from the UMN servers, we set up a 'spare' list to keep everyone up to speed on the move from lenti.umn.edu to vanagon.com. After the move was completed, we were going to shut down this 'spare' list but then gerry (small 'g' = computer hardware, large 'G' = human being) needed to be relocated so we left the spare list intact. Over the ensuing (omg) fifteen or so years, the 'spare' list has served us well during the infrequent outage. It allows administrators to broadcast that yes indeed there is an outage and it allows those with the desire for the security of hundreds of like minded individuals to remain in contact.

So....

Please join the 'spare' vanagon list at yahoogroups. One can either browse to http://groups.yahoo.com/group/vanagon or I believe that one can just send an e-mail to vanagon-subscribe@yahoogroups.com.

The traffic is not particularly heavy and will allow us to notify you when there are problems.

Thanks,

Jim Arnott List Administrator vanagon@gerry
