I'd never keep my jack on that shelf up there in a westy ..... I wouldn't want to put a heavy object that high up in the vehicle. I want heavy things ..........like tools, down low. Like under the back seat. With luck you won't even need to dig it out much ever. Weight is best added, if it must be..........towards the center of the vehicle, and as low as possible, considering vehicle handling dynamics. You don't want weight ( or to add weight ) on the ends or up high, if you can help it. the ultimate shop accessory .......or 'one ultimate' shop accessory would be a nice test track ............like a handling evaluation track.......... and measure g force generated, handling feel at the limit etc. these really can be 'driving machines' with proper tuning .....not just trucks or buses. have fun !
