Subject: Radiator fan problem 88 GL
Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Hi Folks,

My radiator fan won't kick on, and I'd love to hear thoughts about diagnosing and fixing it. Here's what I know: -30 amp fuse for the fan is intact. -I tried the Ken Wilford trick of placing a jumper wire between the terminals at the temp sensing switch behind the lower grill, and got nothing. There is 13 volts present there, though, when the van is running. -inspected the large resistor behind the drivers side headlight. Visually it seems ok; when I had to replace one before it had cracked open. -perhaps unrelated, but the dash blower motor is down, too. I found that the fuse for that had blown, and a replacement blew immediately. The blower had been noisy and reluctant for a while, so I'm guessing it finally seized. But maybe there's a shared relay that got harmed in the process?

Thanks in advance, and I hope you're all well.
