Subject: Propane detector location

I'm home after an event filled trip to CT which climaxed at watching a car accident INSIDE the Thomas Edison rest stop on the Jersey Turnpike. Anyway, my wife awoke me last night around 1 AM in a panic that she smelled propane. She was sleeping downstairs with my 5 year old and I was upstairs. I got down there and smelled it myself. I went outside and shut off the main propane valve. I checked and my propane detector was on but did not sound. When I got home today I took my Colman heater, turned it on without lighting it and blew propane towards the detector. It went off. Soooo, the questions is where should mount this thing? It's on the cabinet wall below the rear bench a few inches from the rear heater. I thought this was a good place for it. Should I move it to the back or is the location it's in OK?

It turns out the leak, which I did not investigate further than finding it today, was on the outside in the extend-a-stay.

Thanks, Bryan
