Whatever..
This is the Vanagon internet mailing list not the Harvard Law Reveiw.(not
trying to be caustic, I am joking)...If someone decides to sue me for them
following a money saver I suggested as a possible way to save a buck and
they assume I've done due dilligence and made sure to get it (my buck-saving
suggested idea) totally approved by the consumer safety commission and there
is no possible way they can ever ever hope to injure themselves using this
internet chat list suggestion...Well geeeze, the legal system is pretty
sick, isn't it?
If you can fill a weed sprayer with DDT, Malathyon or some other poison and
safely pressurize it up and walk around your yard with your2yr old kid in
tow, spraying aphids off your rose bushes..it should be ok to put 10lbs of
pressure on some brake fluid in a shop setting in your vanagon..
We used weed sprayers extensivly to deliver preservatives onto new decks
and log homes..Diesel and Pentafin was the mix of choice...Probably an
enviornmental no no by now..The alternative was to hire a painting
contractor to spray it for the customer..at greater expense...So the weed
sprayer idea ain't some kinda potential killer or a risky prospect...
Yes, you would need to find a cap that matched the brake fluid reservoir
and tap in a hose barb..And yes, maybe the brake fluid might attack the
rubber seals in the weed sprayer..Not much else does..and if it did, you
would just have a leak, not a catastrophic failure....But you could also
just pay out the $60 and get the 'glorified weed sprayer' with the little
pressure guage and the consumer safety certificate that says you can bleed
brakes with it..
