Subject: Heli-coil vs options for oil drain plug
Content-type: text/plain; charset="US-ASCII"

Hi folks,

Well, it's come to this. I swear I've tried to be careful with the torque of the drain plug, but on this last oil change something definitely got spun, and I'm weighing my options.

The drain was "repaired" before, but unfortunately by tapping to a larger hole. I'm tempted to get a kit, borrow a cordless drill, follow directions carefully, etc., but I don't see a lot of room for error here and my past with new operations has been to botch them at least once.

So, I'm looking for options. A Napa guy gave me a "universal" rubber-like plug, which seems like a last ditch possibility. Are there any other possible fixes? And, if no, does anyone recommend a mechanic in NYC who'd be good for this kind of thing?

Thanks,

Matt Sutton 88 GL 4spd Brooklyn NY
