Scott, We are all a little nutty about our beloved vans. dylan ________________________________ From: Scott Daniel - Turbovans <scottdaniel@turbovans.com> To: dylan friedman <insyncro@yahoo.com>; vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM Sent: Sunday, July 12, 2009 10:15:16 PM Subject: Re: my Carat ad in Seattle $7700 for sure good buddy. I value this Tornado Red low miles manual trans Carat , a 90 ....... at up to  $ 10,500. I tend these days to see such vans more as 'collectible beauties' ............the kind you'd proudly keep in your indoor-stored climate-controlled garage...... like they're pieces of art work, which they are. - the special models, the remaining non-rusted, non-dented, non-crashed ones. I have a near cherry dent-free sunroof 82 diesel vanagon ..... which I regard as collectible grade. a guy offered to pay me my medium high asking price a few years ago ....... but he was going to use it as a truck , with animals and kids using it.........I could see it getting trashed. On the good ones that remain ....... it's a shame not to really take care of them. to the point even ............ and it gets this way on really special and high end collectible cars ........ones we hope will be around for years and years yet ......it becomes not so much that one 'owns' such a car.........but more that the are the temporary care-taker of it. Vanagons have such great versatility .......such 'automatic cachet and coolness' .............plus practicality, easy to work on ...........you can haul stuff, sleep in 'em .....on and on ...........and we can't even get anything like these fine vans anymore !!! darn right they are worth preserving and treasuring. I don't see a car or vanagon as something to 'use' .....or to 'use up' - I see them as something to lovingly take care of and enjoy.  Like a small spot of rust stopped and treated ......and properly touched up.......or a lubed hatch strut pivot point ..............those are like beautiful flowers to me ....... like it's joyful to honor these fine vehicles by taking care of them. kinda nutty ......but that's how I am, Scott ----- Original Message ----- >From: dylan friedman >To: Scott Daniel - Turbovans ; vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM >Sent: Sunday, July 12, 2009 6:06 PM >Subject: Re: my Carat ad in Seattle $7700 > > >OMG, >I have the exact same van but it is a 1991. >Rare for sure. >I waited many years for mine to surface. >Please keep the price going up not down, he he he. > >dylan > >  > > > ________________________________ From: Scott Daniel - Turbovans <scottdaniel@TURBOVANS.COM> >To: vanagon@GERRY.VANAGON.COM >Sent: Sunday, July 12, 2009 7:59:51 PM >Subject: Re: my Carat ad in Seattle $7700 > >what a beauty ! >I've worked on it, and driven it ....... >it's a very special van. >heck..........we don't even see vans much these days with only 111,000 miles >on them, being sold by second owner, never crashed, no rust ...... >no dents , in a Carat body style, in Tornado Red , with a manual trans.
