If you tell us what size engine you have and the year of the van the people on this list can give you better information.

83.5 to 85 and 86-91 are different procedures/specs.

Also, more important than timing is bleeding the cooling system.

If your mechanic (who cannot read or is too lazy to read a repair manual) doesn't bleed the cooling system properly you may cook your expensive new engine...
