Hello Keith; I restored my '89 Westy pop top a few years ago. It was badly oxidized when I bought it. I saw this procedure on one of the westy/syncro lists. Use Meguiar's "Marine/RV Products: Marine/RV #49, Oxidation remover or #44 Color restorer; then #45 High Gloss Polish, then #56 Pure Wax. The products can be purchased separately or in a kit called "Fiberglass Restoration System". Its a lot of work but it really restores the pop top. After I did mine I had someone ask me if I had my top repainted. Check out Meguiar's info at marinerv.meguiars.com.
