My experience with the Shady Boy awning is that the awning itself doesn't leak, but there is a fraction of an inch gap between the Shady Boy aluminum housing and my roof drip rail and I frequently have had drips from the roof rail (gutter I call it) that will fall in the open door way.

My solution is just to run a piece of tape - black electrical at this point along the crack between the Shady Boy and the drip rail. This has worked just fine for me and is not noticeable at all as far as I'm concerned. I'm not sure if I could have mounted the awning a little lower to reduce the gap, but it wouldn't have been water tight. It pretty much is with the tape.

I'm very happy with the Shady Boy. I wish I had gotten the aluminized coated one rather than a blue one as you can feel the sun shine through the light blue on a really bright day.

Cheers,

John
