I quite like my memory foam mattress on the lower bed. Like 2 inches of foam backing, 1.5 inches of memory foam, Serta brand. I just fold it in half and roll it up. Tempted one day to cut it down to fit exactly, then cut it in half and make it bifold kinda like the GoWesty ones.

Got a full size from Overtsock.com for under a hundred shipped.
