Don, I have 2 of the heavy duty struts on my bus. I do not have a bike rack or anything but I can tell you it is a significant difference. The nice thing for us is that having the two heavt struts allows us to leave the rear hatch open at whatever amount we want - so if we choose we can have some fresh air coming in while camping without the hatch being completely open.
