Just working through the usual sort of issues that follow a long trip and need to ask... On my 84 Westy there are strap handles on the C-Pillars. How are these removed? Looks like they might slide up to release &/or reveal a screw but they do not do so easily so I wanted to ask before using force. The p/s handle is just starting to tear and will be swapped with the d/s which doesn't ever see use beyond hanging a hat on it. Thanks to the archive I was able to piece together the easy replacement of the brake light switches. For posterity: the MC on my 84 has 2 switches (the same 3-prong switch used on late Beetles) and it appears both have to fail before you lose brake lights. As noted in the archives, they can be replaced by quick hands with the loss of only a few drops of brake fluid. Geo Hahn |
