Went to Atlanta today - after all the work that has been done on my 88 GL it was time for a good run. From my place south of Birmingham up to the far side of Atlanta - northeast on the US 285 Atlanta Bypass - 170 miles to destination - 340 round trip.

Latest effort was brakes and new tires, added to the earlier transmission work and repair of leaking oil seals at crankshaft, lubing of CV's, tranny shifter mechanism from front to rear.

Rolling along on new General Altimax RT 205/7R14 98T XL M+S - it was a sweet ride and the van performed flawlessly. Went over empty, came back with 1000 lbs of plaster and clay sitting on the floor behind the driver and passenger seats. Made good speed - 65 both ways, and no strain on the engine. It just pushed all that weight right along.

It is days like today that make one really appreciate what these little vans can do.

John Rodgers 88 GL Driver
